The Bible teaches us many kinds of prayer. Christians pray in various ways. In this passage, James calls us to pray simple prayers of faith. Using Elijah as the example, James shows us that prayers prayed according to God’s word and will, from a heart of faith, have great power to accomplish much.

How does prayer give us a vision for our lives and the church? This week Justin and Scott take time to talk about James 5 and prayer.

James said to be patient until the coming of the Lord. Jesus asked if he would find faith on earth when he returns. The evidence of patience and faith is found in prayer. At Grace Community Church, we are being called to a life of prayer. In our suffering, rejoicing, sickness, and sin, we turn to the Lord together.

As Christians how do we think about unmet desires that may or may not get fulfilled? How does patience play a role into our thinking? These questions were addressed in today’s podcast with Scott & Justin.

One of the great Christian disciplines is the regular, mental rehearsal of the coming of the Lord, reminding ourselves of what will be then. Doing so focuses our minds and establishes our hearts for living in faithfulness to Christ now. The coming of the Lord is at hand. This is the reality that breeds patience and hope, and shapes how we live until then.

This week Justin and Scott discuss ways that we can use our money for God’s glory. What mindset do we need in order to pursue God’s glory with our finances?

The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, including the violation of love for God and others. Come now, let us consider the One who was rich beyond compare, yet became poor that we might become rich in God. Let us rid our hearts of the love of money by the expulsive power of a new and growing affection for Christ. Let us love our neighbor with our money.

What are some pitfalls from pursuing the phrase, “If the Lord Wills”? Are there any unhealthy patterns, or ways we can misuse this phrase in our lives? These are the questions addressed in this week’s podcast.

We make plans and travel, and make money and spend it, just like everyone else. So what difference does having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ make in the way we live? Being a Christian gives us a new wisdom from God, a new understanding of God, a new heart of humility before God, and a new desire to do the will of God. This newness in Christ makes all the difference in how we live our lives.
