This week, Justin and Scott discuss the new December sermon series at Grace, Immanuel: God With Us. How does the truth of God's presence impact our lives?

The Words of Grace Podcast seeks to clarify, amplify, and apply the Sunday morning sermon at Grace Community Church. From time to time we will address other topics. We hope these podcasts help impress the Word of God into your everyday life. Episodes are hosted by Justin Tucker and Scott Patty.

The sign of a son, conceived and born of a virgin, is realized in Jesus Christ.  Jesus is Immanuel, God with us.  Today we hear the account of Jesus’ birth, consider the reality that he is God with us, and rejoice in all that his presence means for us as his people. May the old story bring new life to our weary souls.

Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God’s grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

On this week's podcast, Justin and Scott take a closer look at Jesus' call to Peter to suffer. They also discuss lessons learned from our sermon series in the gospel of John.

John does not leave us wondering what became of his dear friend Peter who denied Jesus three times. In this final chapter of John, Jesus walks Peter through the process of contrition, confession, and restoration. Here we have a final vision of the greatness and graciousness of Jesus. We hear his final word to his disciple, “Follow Me.” Here we are at the end of the Gospel of John. Do you see Jesus? Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? Will you follow him?

On this week's podcast, Justin and Scott discuss the hope found in the fact that Jesus does not give up on his church. How does this truth influence the way we interact as a congregation?

Jesus came as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.  He accomplished his mission by atoning for sin on the cross. Now he commissions his church to proclaim his accomplishment and call people to repent and believe in him for the forgiveness of sins. Today, we rejoice that Jesus is alive, we rely upon him for the forgiveness of our sins, we receive his command to preach the gospel, and we resolve to carry out our mission together as a congregation.

On this week's episode, Justin and Scott discuss Jesus' post-resurrection appearances found in John. They also spend time talking with Cody Truett, the new Pastor of Worship and Adult Education at Grace.

Jesus did many signs while he was with his disciples. Some were written down in the Gospel of John. Others were not recorded.  The death, burial, and resurrection appearances were written by John just as he and his friends experienced them. John wrote these things so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.  If we believe, we will have life in Jesus’ name.

The Gospel writers give us the details of the burial of Jesus. The Apostle Paul listed Jesus’ burial as one of the essential events of the gospel. Today we give our attention to this often overlooked event to again expand our vision of Jesus. The burial of Jesus shows us the reality and power of his death that changes our hearts, and of his resurrection that makes all things new.
