This week, Justin and Scott discuss how to interact and relate to those in the world as sanctified people.

The Words of Grace Podcast seeks to clarify, amplify, and apply the Sunday morning sermon at Grace Community Church. From time to time we will address other topics. We hope these podcasts help impress the Word of God into your everyday life. Episodes are hosted by Justin Tucker and Scott Patty.

The prayer of Jesus reveals the will of God for his church.  We are to be sanctified in the truth. The work of God to sanctify us sets us apart from the world as we are conformed to the image of Christ, and sets us apart for his mission as we live in the world. God has taken us out of the world and given us to Christ. Christ has sent us back into the world for God. Today we pray for and pursue sanctification in truth.

Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God’s grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

This week, Justin and Scott call attention to the many ways we see God keeping the church in faith.

An encouraging and instructive part of Jesus’ prayer for his church is that God would keep us in his name and from the evil one. Jesus prayed because he cares deeply for his church. We listen to Jesus’ prayer because we live in the world where deception, distraction, and the constant attack of the evil one is real. What Jesus asked the Father on our behalf becomes the pursuit of our lives in the world.

On Sunday, we learned from John 17 that we belong to God. How does this reality affect our lives? Justin and Scott discuss this question on this week’s podcast.

As Jesus begins his prayer for his church in the world, he reveals who we are, what we have been given, and the greatest end for which we exist. Today, we remember our identity as the people of Christ by grace, our call to receive him by faith, and our purpose to bring glory to him in the world.

In this passage we see Jesus praying. We hear his heart of love for the Father and for us. His prayer reveals his determination to glorify God and give us eternal life. What do we gain from the vision of our Savior in prayer? Faith, hope, and love.

Justin and Scott sit down to discuss how to remain faithful when we can’t see Him answering our prayers in the way or timing we desire.

Jesus called, even commanded, his church to participate in the work of God in the world by asking in prayer. Jesus promised that what the church asks it will receive. Today, as we hear the words of Jesus, may we be granted vision, faith, and resolve to be asking Christians and a praying congregation for the work of God in our lives, families, city, and world.

As we live in this world, how do we love while at the same time standing for truth? Justin and Scott look back at John 16 to answer this question.
