The Servant Who Bore Our Sins - Isaiah 52:13-53:12 - March 24, 2024
Monday Mar 25, 2024
Monday Mar 25, 2024
In this Servant passage we again see Jesus Christ. He is revealed as the one who atoned for our sins. This means that he took upon himself the guilt and the penalty of our sin, though he himself had not sinned. By suffering the just penalty for sin, he removed it from all who repent and believe in him. Today we are called to see Jesus as the Suffering Servant who took away our sin, and ourselves as the sinners for whom he died. With this vision of Jesus and ourselves, we repent and believe in him. We find our assurance before God to live and to take the message of the church to the world.

The message of Isaiah 51 is to the remaining exiles who are seeking the Lord. The Lord is calling them to listen to his word for comfort and courage in their current state of sorrow. The message landed well, so they prayed. Today, hear the word of the Lord. See yourself in the history of God’s people and the plan of God’s salvation. Let comfort and courage from the promises of God rule over fear in your heart. Listen, pray, and live.
