This chapter gives us another picture of the Servant of the Lord who is Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a life of listening to the Father and speaking his word to us. He submitted his life to the will of the Father, which led to his rejection and suffering. He was vindicated by the Father in the resurrection and is now exalted as Lord. Morning by morning we come to the Father with Jesus and his word sustains our weary souls. Let us listen to him.

The contrast in these chapters is not between proud humans and humble humans. It is not between two kinds of humans at all. The contrast is between human pride and the grace of God.
