Sunday Mar 21, 2021
As citizens of the kingdom of God, we have spiritual reasons for submitting to the governing laws on earth. In this passage from Romans, we are reminded that all governing authority is from God, and that we are called to submit to God by obeying the laws of the land. We do this because we have an understanding of human nature, we know what is good for societies, we want to keep a good conscience before God and people, and we desire to give a clear witness of the gospel of Christ to the world.
Grace Community church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God’s grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

Sunday Feb 28, 2021
The image of the church in this passage is a body with many parts, each functioning as a whole. This is a picture of Christian community in a local congregation. By the mercy of God, which saves us from our sins, we who are many are now gathered together in oneness in Christ. We are each gifted to make some contribution to the health of the congregation. When we function this way, the church is built up and the power of the gospel is made more evident in the world. Ultimately, the community made by mercy glorifies God.

Mercy Makes An Appeal – Romans 12:1-2 – February 14, 2021

Sunday Feb 14, 2021
This passage sums up the life of those who have been justified by God through faith in Jesus Christ. Our goal is God’s glory as we do his will. The means to that goal is non-conformity to the world, transformation of our inner person through the renewing of our minds, and offering ourselves to God as living sacrifices. The motivation to live this way and for this purpose is the mercy of God shown to us in Christ. As those justified by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus, we are now living sacrifices to God to do his will. This is mercy’s appeal to us.
