John brought a word of clarity to a dispute over religious rituals and ministry success. The point of all ritual and the purpose of all ministry is the increase of the glory and grace of Jesus. He must increase. Today we ask the Lord for clarity in our minds, faith in our hearts, and focus in our lives, that we may pursue the increase of Jesus in our congregation and city.

At a wedding with his disciples, Jesus turned water into wine. This was his first sign. The miracle Jesus performed was significant because in it he communicated what is true about himself. Jesus is superior. He is the fulfillment of all that came before him, the final Word, the sure Way, the complete Truth, and the gift of Life. This is the glory of Jesus. On that day, his followers further believed in him. Today, may we see the glory of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Let us, too, believe in him.
