A common misunderstanding about God is that he is Lord over only those who profess him to be, and that they are the only ones accountable to him. But Isaiah, and all the Bible, reveals that God is Lord of all; every person and all nations. He is the creator of all, all are accountable to him, and he will judge all. Regardless of which religion one identifies with, or whether one identifies with none, it is to the LORD God that each person will give account. The only way to rejoice at the judgment is to be united to the One who took our judgment upon himself. By faith in Jesus we will sing of the glory of the Righteous One.

Those who experience the grace of God in Christ sing the song of salvation. It’s a song of thanksgiving, trust, and assurance. This song makes known God’s name and deeds in all the earth. The song of salvation is sung by all the redeemed of the Lord and by the congregation together. Today, let us draw from the waters of salvation and find our joy in Christ.

King Ahaz of Judah faced a crisis of faith when he was threatened with invasion by other nations. He trusted in human wisdom and power rather than in the LORD. Into this time of failure and the darkness that followed, Isaiah gave the great prophecy of the King who would come and rule forever. We have come to see that this King is Jesus.
